T-FAL IRONS
Useful and safety tips
Wattage: To avoid a circuit overload, do not operate another high-wattage appliance on the same circuit. -Voltage: Your iron is designed to run on 120Vonly. Check that the power supply corresponds to that shown on the rating plate of the appliance. If the Iron is dropped, have it checked by an Approved After Sales Service Center before using it again. Non-visible damage might have occurred which could endanger your safety. Never disassemble the appliance yourself; contact a T-FAL Approved After Sales Service Center.
How can I clean my Iron?
Never immerse the body of the appliance in water. Unplug the appliance and let it cool down. The thermoplastic body of the iron can be wiped clean with a damp cloth.
How can I clean the soleplate?
Never immerse the body of the appliance in water. Unplug the appliance. The Ultraglide soleplate of your iron may get marked by starch or if fabric has accidentally been ironed at too high a temperature setting. It is very easy to clean: let the iron cool down slightly, then rub with a moist plastic scouring pad. Wipe with a soft cloth to remove any deposits. Do not use abrasive scouring pads, scouring powders or iron soleplate cleaners.
What water should I use in for my T-FAL iron?
Your iron is designed for use with tap water. Only use cold, untreated tap water. Do not use de-mineralized water, battery fluid, defrosted water or boiled water which has been cooled. Although these waters may not cause scaling, they contain micro-impurities or chemical substances which form deposits in the iron and can cause brown stains on laundry.
What is the self-cleaning feature?
(except Turboglide(tm) Steam Station, # 1835) The self cleaning process flushes hot water and steam through the iron removing any loose mineral deposits or fluff. Regular self-cleaning will increase the life of your iron and prevent scaling, which reduces steam efficiency and can result in brown deposits spotting clothes. Note: this operation must only be carried out after the first use of the iron, never when it is brand new.
